Going Natural Journey III

A milestone. It was exactly a year ago. April 21 2010. I had the idea to fingercurl the whole thing and twist half of it after parting it on the side. I LOVED the result! I felt pretty and that I was being nice to my hair! (Brazil)

July 2010. When I don't have much time or patience, I just put most of it under a knitted headband and feel great. (Florida - US)

July 29 2010. I had the urge to see how long it would be after blowdried. Yep, it did grow. Compare to the picture taken in Dec 2008. (back to Brazil)

This was my style for most the time. Disadvantage: takes about 1 hour to be ready. Advantage: lasts up to 4 days if you can go that long without washing it.

Another milestone. April 1 2011. After I started reading posts on 'I love my curly kinky natural hair' I learned how to moiturize it and let it go freer.

After moisturizing it with olive oil. LOVED it!

Going Natural Journey II

Dec 2008 - I had it blowdried and ironed by a professionalt. That made it easier to manage my hair since I didn't feel it was long enough for me to style it and like it without using heat. (Brazil)

Sep 2009 at my brother's wedding. After a couple of hours at the salon (Brazil)

Dec 2009. Washed, twisted up to middle and tied back. That's what I would do when I didn't have much time (Brazil)

January 2010. After almost two hours ironing it myself! (DC - US)

July 2007. I chopped off more than usual (MG - Brazil)

March 2008 shortly after I chemiacally treated it for the last time (just the front part was treated to help me a little bit for the journey ahead). (DC-US)

Going natural jorney 2005 - 2011

As one can notice almost two years have passed without much change. The routine was pretty much getting my roots straightened every 3 months or so. The result was not too bad. But my hair was never healthy enough. The tips would ALWAYS break no matter how much I tried to deep condtition my hair so I had to be constantly cutting them off. It would never grow much longer than seen in these pics.
